We, the Vincentians from St Vincent de Paul-Holy Name of Mary Conference (SVdP-HNM), want to say THANK YOU! The past year has been a truly trying time for all of us. We are so grateful to have such an amazing parish supporting us with our mission to help the less fortunate members of our community. We would like to take a moment and share with you a few things that our conference has been able to accomplish because of your generous donations. This past year there have been several families that have come to us asking for assistance to help bury loved ones. In one case, a homeless woman came to us for assistance when her husband passed away. She had many needs and stresses in those weeks, and we were able to decrease her burden a little. SVdP-HNM could not only help to cover the costs of the funeral, but also obtain lodging for a few nights so she could shower, rest, and begin the long road of the grieving process with dignity. Every member of our society deserves to feel compassion and understanding during a tragic time and because of your generosity, we were able to help this family in a small way. Our Food Pantry continually ministers to the homeless with not only food and much needed hygiene items, but a friend to speak to and share their concerns with. This can only be accomplished because you have continually supported us through food drives, monetary donations, and gently used clothing. It is so important to us that we recognize that even the smallest gestures are celebrated as each week we have seen many of you drop by with items to help support those in need. Because you have cared for us, we have been able to support hundreds of homeless people and families in need with food, drinks, and hygiene needs. In many situations, these families and persons have no one to turn to, so we have become their friends and companions on the days they come to the door. Whether it has been a simple meal for the day or a week’s worth of groceries, each friend is served with love and compassion, thus allowing us to serve Our Lord in a simple way each moment. Thank you again for all your loving, generous support. We would never be able to continue this vital work of service to our poor, just as Christ, without you. May God continue to bless you and keep your families in His hands. The Society of St Vincent DePaul- Holy Name of Mary Conference
