Good People of Holy Name of Mary Parish, August 2023
As we come to the close of celebrating our 65th year of God’s presence among us as Holy Name of Mary Parish, we have much to rejoice about. WE ARE VERY BLESSED!
You have been hearing about Phase 3 for a number of years – our capital campaign to raise funds to further develop our parish property to benefit of our Parish and our School. We got off to a great start – with 567 donors making ongoing pledge payments and one-time donations. I am grateful to each person who made a sacrifice to get us to where we are today.
In October 2022 we commenced a feasibility study to elicit responses from our parish and school communities about our future needs. Those who took part in this study ranked them in this order:
Why is this project necessary? This is the time of year when parish organizations submit their requests for room space for their meetings and activities. We are bursting at the seams! Our parish staff is jumping through hoops attempting to meet most of the needs that our organizations express – and we cannot do so. The new Administration Building will allow us in the future to expand the size of our current classrooms (and this can only be done with future money we hope to raise through your help).
During the day these expanded classrooms will serve our fully-enrolled school classes; in the afternoons serve our faith formation students; and in the evenings better support the needs of our parish ministries and organizations (including those listed above). Our active and vibrant parish will most likely become more active and vibrant in the future – and we need meeting space and activity space to allow the Holy Spirit to work among us!
The COVID pandemic hurt us in continuing to promote and develop our plans. But the Phase 3 Committee has been working hard to jump-start our renewed efforts. You can view the information we have developed about Phase 3 on our parish website: www.hnmparish.org/phase-3-project. There you will find the feasibility study results, the most recent architectural renderings, and other important information.
I need your prayerful help to help support our present and future needs. Please discern your ability to make a sacrificial, 5-year pledge to our Phase 3 Capital Campaign. Each sacrifice will help us reach these important goals. Know of my gratitude and the appreciation of our Parish and School Staffs for the sacrifices you continually make for Holy Name of Mary. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Peace,
Fr. Chris Santangelo, SS.CC.

Currently we have just over $1.7 million in-hand from our past fundraising efforts from generous people like you.
Our initial goals of $15 million and then $10 million are now right-sized to a current Phase 3 goal of $4.5 million.
The parish needs we hope to address continue to be the same:
Reconfiguring our school classrooms for 21st century needs
A youth ministry center for our teens to gather
A medium-sized space for school / faith formation / parish meetings throughout the day
Whole-Person Care space to help provide for people of all ages
Every household will be given the opportunity to offer counsel and opinion and is a valuable and important component of our faith community. We need to hear from as broad a spectrum of the faith community as possible.
The study will be conducted using in depth personal interviews, an in-pew survey, mailed surveys and an electronic survey. These means of data collection will provide a balance of opinions and attitudes, preserving both the integrity of the study and your personal privacy. Our Sunday Visitor, an independent, experienced, and objective outside agency will conduct the study.
A cross section of individuals will be selected by the parish to participate in the interview process in order to reflect diversified points of view. The interviews should last no more than 30 minutes and will be conducted in person or by phone by Domingo Betancourt, a consultant from Our Sunday Visitor.
Our Consultant for this study from Our Sunday Visitor will evaluate responses and provide an extensive analysis of the results. This will include both a written evaluation of the responses and opinions received from the study and a recommendation for how we as a parish should move forward.
