First Communion
Formation Program

A whole family journey for those with children Grades 1-5, preparing to celebrate their First Reconciliation and First Communion.

FAITH FORMATION'S THREE-PART MODEL

Faith Formation at Holy Name of Mary parish fosters a life-long journey of discipleship for the whole family.  Our primary mission is encounters with Christ for children, teens and their parents.  Our 2025-26 program includes the following three components:

In-person, age-specific sessions led by faith-filled volunteers.

  • Children attend twice per month

  • Available in English and Spanish

Gatherings to grow families of disciples

  • Parent & child attend two half day retreats and one additional family event per year

Opportunities for parents/guardians to deepen their connection to Christ

  • Parents participate in one adult faith series per year

  • Week of October 6, 2025

Program Requirements

We follow the Archdiocesan guideline that every child/teen participates in two years of a faith formation program prior to the celebration of sacraments.

To register, parents need to submit a Baptismal Certificate for youth preparing to receive their First Holy Communion OR a Birth Certificate for unbaptized youth preparing for full initiation (Baptism, Communion, Confirmation).

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We need you to volunteer to share your faith! What does it mean to be a catechist or helper? Catechists and helpers are disciples of Jesus who are living out the call to share the Good News with young people.  The primary qualifications are a love of the Lord and a desire to nurture the faith of children.  Materials and trainings are provided.

To pray and discuss if this ministry is right for you, please contact Melanie Bailey.
